Nairobi - Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has been kicked out of the Public Accounts Committee PAC and the Committee disbanded.
The PAC was declared disbanded by the National Assembly Tuesday after it adopted a report by the Powers and Privileges Committee to disband the committee that has been riddled in corruption and bribery allegations.
The disbandment means that the house will now form a new Committee and appoint new leaders to one of the most powerful committee's in the house.
Five members of the old Committee have been barred from being in the new one.
Former chairman Ababu Namwamba (Budalangi), his deputy Cecily Mbarire(Runyenjes), Ahmed Abass (Ijara), James Bett (Kesses, URP) and Omondi
Anyanga (Nyatike) have been barred from the new committee.
They are accused of failing to substantiate claims made against other members.
They have also been asked to apologize to the house for making their claims.
Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso said the five would be expected
to make their apologies to the rest of the House Wednesday.
" None of the members who
have been named will be allowed to sit in the House until they tender
their apologies," Laboso ordered.
The PAC has been riddled with allegations of misuse of office and bribery after claims arose that they had accepted bribes to strike out names of public officials linked to corruption.
It is alleged that the Committee members pocketed bribes of as much as KES 1.5 million to ensure the name of Defence CS Mutea Iringo was removed from a report on irregular award of a tender.
