Ababu disagrees with ODM on Uhuru handover

Nairobi - Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba says that handover of the presidency by Uhuru Kenyatta to William Ruto was a great idea and should be heeded in future.
The president on Monday officially handed over power to his deputy William Ruto to allow him travel to the Hague in the Netherlands as a citizen of Kenya and not head of state.
Opposition leaders though, lambasted the position taken by the president, saying the decision was a public relations exercise.
Ababu though, feels that it was a move that should be heeded in future and praised the head of state for his wisdom.
" I think that it was a good move by the president. It was unprecedented," he said.
" Listen, we have a leader who has handed over power to his deputy so as to show Kenyans his seriousness over protecting the country's sovereignty".
" The people saying it was nothing are just politicizing it and should instead look at it like the great move it is and as an example to others in future," he added.

ODM leaders Raila Odinga, James Orengo and Jakoyo Midiwo said that the move was purely one to confuse Kenyans and that it was unnecessary as it is constitutionally provided for.
" It is unnecessary. The constitution provides for such a handover. The address in parliament was not needed and it was just too much fuss over nothing, Midiwo said.
The president is already back in the country from his trip to the Hague.
