Vihiga - An administration police officer was killed in a cold blood murder at Solongo village, West Maragoli location in Vihiga County.
The incident that came hot on the heels of the burial of two victims of the Mandera bus attack shocked many people who said they had never seen a police officer being killed in the region for many years.
Corporal Solomon Adungo had served at the post for only six months after being transferred from the Sabatia AP post.
According to the County Commissioner, Boaz Cherotich, the body of the slain officer was found lying in a pool of blood on the road Monday morning.
“We suspect that he was waylaid by a gang that took advantage of him and killed him while he was going to his post in the early hours of the morning,” said Cherotich.

He said that the unfortunate incident’s motive had not yet been established as no one had volunteered any information to the police so far.
Cherotich said the officer had gone to Chavakali market on Sunday evening where he is suspected to have spent the night before he met his death in the morning.
Governor Moses Akaranga, who visited the scene early in the morning, condemned the act saying it was unfortunate for such an act to be conducted in the region.
“It is a sad day and we are condemning the act and whoever may have been involved. It is not good for an individual to attack officers who are tasked with their security,” said Akaranga.
