Kitale - A somber mood engulfed Kachibora AP camp in Cherangany Tuesday after an administration police constable committed suicide in a suspected love triangle.
Police reports indicate that the officer, attached to the office of deputy County commissioner, died after consuming poison following a disagreement with his fiancee.
His colleague, while addressing journalists, said that the officer had earlier stormed the woman’s parent’s home within Kitale town where a fall out ensued between them over alleged unfaithfulness.
One of his colleagues found the lifeless body lying down in the house with an empty bottle of poison next to it.
The officer has been accusing his fiancee of unfaithfulness and on that day, they had quarreled after she allowed another man to escort her to deliver some items he had purchased for his would-be in-laws.

“I don’t understand why you like walking around with this man. I will not allow that to continue,’’ the officer is said to have complained bitterly at a local pub in Kitale.
It was at that time that the officer reportedly took his pistol and shot the woman on the shoulder.
The woman was rushed to Kitale level 4 hospital where she is recuperating.
The officer then took off after the incident and went to his house at Kachibora AP camp where he consumed the poison.
The sources said that the officer has been in tough competition with the other man who is a son of a prominent businessman in Kitale over the woman.
“Both of them have been claiming responsibility for the woman, saying they have spent lot of money on her," the source added.
County commander, Lillian Okembo confirmed the incident and warned local officers against misuse of their guns.
