AP camp to face closure due to lack of water supply

02 August 2012, 18:55James Kabotia

An Administration Police camp which has been instilling tight security for residents of Nging’ei village, Daiga Location in Laikipia County will soon face closure due to lack of water supply.

The camp was initiated in 2010 after the area experienced lots of mystery killings and robbery.

This was after an incident where one of the residents named Peter Rukungu was mercilessly butchered in the same year and his livestock stolen.

Now, the Administration Police officers have no qualms than to vacate from the camp after running without water for about a month.

The Ministry of Water in Nanyuki town had been supplying the officers with water by a water boozer but the supply has now hit a snag.

However, Laikipia County Commissioner Wycliffe Ogallo told journalists on phone that his office has not received any complaints from the officers, adding that the water boozer situation is a normal occurrence.

“Am not aware of the AP camp and if there is any situation of the kind, I have not received any complaints”, said the County Commissioner.

Area residents are now foreseeing danger of insecurity and deaths if their security personnel’s matters are not be solved soon.
