Kenyan Premier League side AFC leopards are leading the way for other clubs to follow after they announced a mega Insurance partnership with insurance firm AAR. The deal was hacked through Ingwe’s official sponsors Mumias Sugar.

The Insurance package totals 18 Million shillings and will run for the next one year. Mumias Sugar paid a premium of 1.26 Million shillings for the insurance benefits.

Each player is set to get 500,000 shillings worth of insurance which includes both outpatient and inpatient. Also, they will get dental and optical services in and around Kenya. The Cover also has a 3 million package per person which will cater for rescue and evacuation in case of an accident.

The Gold insurance policy will cover all the 30 players and the technical bench.

Receiving the cheque, AFC leopards Chair Alex Ole Magelo said he was happy with the move adding that they are aiming at fully proffesionalizing the team.

“This is something great. Treating all these players when they are injured had become a great burden to us and we are hapy that AAR has come in to help”, he said.

This will be a precedent for other clubs as very few of them have actually insured their players. Bearing in mind that an injury can cause great harm to a player’s career especially if not taken well care of, this will come as a relief to all the players in the team.
