9 students arraigned in court for an arson attempt

Bungoma - Nine students from Sendera secondary school in Mt Elgon sub county Bungoma county have been arraigned in a Kimilili law courts for arson attempt.
Seven boys and two girls were arrested by CID officers from Kapsokwony police station after an investigation showed that they had planned to gut down the learning institution on Wednesday.
Before the Kimilili resident magistrate Dickens Onyango, the terrified students were not officially charged after police asked for more time to conduct investigations.
The prosecution side asked for more days to allow the police to conduct investigations concerning the offence until Monday next week when they will take a plea.
The court granted the police four more days to carry on with their investigations has the students were locked up at Kapsokwony police station.
Sendera Secondary school has been closed indefinitely and students send home following the strike where they destroyed the classrooms window pens and dormitories protesting the arrest of their colleagues.
According to sub county criminal investigation officer Peter Mbuvi the students were arrested with a half litre of petrol.
“It was at this point that the police were called immediate and an abrupt inspection was conducted and the petrol was recovered.” He noted
Preliminary investigation indicates that the petrol was brought in the school by a day scholar and kept in one of the student’s metallic box.
A boy who allegedly brought the petrol in the school compound has gone missing and police have launched a man hunt to arrest him
