Nairobi - 9 people have been killed after their matatu was swept away by floods in Gatundu, Kiambu county Sunday morning.
The 9 were killed after their 14 seater matatu was swept away by floods at Nyakibai.
Their bodies were found floating on the water at the Nyakibai stream which had overflown with water.
" Sadly we have lost 9 Kenyans in a situation that could have been avoided," traffic commandant Jacinta Kinyua told News24 on phone.
" It seems that they are from the same family as they were from a dowry ceremony. We offer condolences to their families and friends," she added.
7 other people were rescued in the incident.
The incident comes just a day after 5 people were killed in similar circumstances in Migori. 14 people are still missing as a result.
