Eight striking nurses were on Monday arraigned in a Nyeri court charged with malicious damage of property.
They were charged before Nyeri Senior Principal Magistrate Shadrack Okato that on 4th February this year, they invaded Gatitu dispensary where they damaged thermometers, hospital registers, blood pressure machine and window panes all valued at KES 3 400.
They faced a second count that on the same date they invaded Aguthi Dispensary where they damaged three thermos flasks valued at KES 3 600.
The nurses who all work at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital pleaded not guilty to the charges and were released on a bond of KES 30 000 and a surety of the same amount or a cash bail of KES 15 000.
They eight were Simon Warui Njogu, Wilson Waciuri Githinji, Jane Wangari, Alice Wangui, Lucy Wairimu, Phoebe Maina, Joyce Mutuota and Agnes Wangu Thigiti.
The case will be mentioned on 19th February this year.
