Nairobi - 8 members of Strathmore University's staff have asked to resign over the failed terror drill which left one person dead and 23 others injured.
According to Vice Chancellor Prof John Odhiambo, the 8 have already handed in their requests which are being considered by the school's institution.
" Unfortunately we have all been hit hard by the reality of the exercise and we are all trying to deal with it in the right manner," he said Wednesday.
A subordinate staff member was killed in the Monday drill after jumping from the third floor of a block to escape supposed terrorists.
The University says that it is doing all it can to ensure her family gets all the help it can at this trying time.
" We are very much in touch with the family and are doing all we can to ensure that we as a community and institution help the family at this time," he added.
He also clarified that the University sought the help of the Lang'ata Police Station to help with the planning of the drill.
" We were in touch with them and we have communication to prove it," he offered.
The government has ordered an inquest into the drill which it says was badly arranged and was a violation of several laws.
" We must have someone answer because we cannot allow the loss of life to slide in such a manner," Police spokesman Charles Owino said on Tuesday.
