Laikipia - About 69 adult learners in Laikipia County sat the 2014 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate for Primary Education (KCPE) exams.
26 candidates sat for the just concluded KCPE exams while 43 candidates are sitting for the ongoing KCSE exams.
Laikipia County Director of Adult and Continuing Learning, Harriet Karambu, said the candidates were well prepared for the exams having done enough academic work and revision.
She attested that among the 26 candidates who sat for KCPE, eight were inmates at the Nanyuki G.K prison.

Harriet said the examiner, Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), was forced to establish an exams centre inside the correctional facility since the inmates could not be allowed to leave the prison premises because of security reasons.
She also noted that an inmate who scored 397 marks in 2010 KCPE exams and was later transferred to King’ong’o prison in Nyeri County to undertake his Secondary education is currently sitting his KCSE exams.
In the 2013 KCSE exams, nine adult learners attained a grade of C- (minus), three D+ (plus), 17 D (plain) and 23 D- (minus).
