Nairobi - 60 Kalenjin politicians have dumped the Jubilee Coalition for ODM, saying they have been duped over the 2022 General Elections.
The 60 presented themselves at Orange House Nairobi saying that they feel shortchanged by the current regime and utterances by senior Jubilee politicians that they will not support DP William Ruto come the 2022 General Elections.
Members of the group led by Kalenjin Association vice chairman Robert Cheruiyot said that after previous lessons, they do not want to be hurt anymore.
He said they are convinced Jubilee is an alliance of individuals, not communities.
" We must choose to stand up and be counted. We want to be on the right side of history," he said at the meeting with senior ODM officials.
Cheruiyot said they will mobilise support for CORD leader Raila Odinga in Rift Valley ahead of the August 2017 General Elections.
" In the past month, the Kalenjin community has been left in a state
of suspended animation with regard to the political future of the
community," he added.
The move will likely lift political temperatures ahead of what is expected to be a hard fought elections.
