Nairobi - 5 Members of County Assemblies MCA's from the Orange Democratic Movement ODM have been charged with assault on former party Executive Director Magerer Lang'at.
Led by Nairobi County Majority Leader Elias Otieno, the MCAs attacked Lang'at during a party meeting last year and threw him out of the venue after manhandling him.
Lang'at went to court to complain of the harassment, which was well documented on camera and by local television stations.
Otieno is on record as stating that they took the action to save Lang'at from chaos that could have befallen him if he stayed at the meeting, which had turned emotional.
Otieno added that the former EC, had made statements which supporters had not taken with good heart and thus his presence at the meeting was dangerous.
Otieno and the five MCAs were charged Tuesday with assault at the Nairobi magistrates court and released on a bail of KES 10,000 each.
