44 University students have joined terrorists, says Universities regulator

Nairobi - More than 44 University students in both public and private universities have joined terror groups to fight in Somalia and Libya, the Commission for University Education (CUE) has said.
Speaking to an educational conference at Kenyatta University, the Commission's CEO Professor David Some said that 17 of the students who have joined terror groups are girls.
"The terror group networks are targeting students who are pursuing Medicine, Law,Nursing, Engineering and Psychology for recruitment ", said Professor Some.
The CEO called on the Vice chancellors to give security issues a top priority in their universities.
"The vice chancellors should be involved in the County security meetings and they should give security matters at the universities a top priority ",he said.
