More than 40 000 youths in Central Kenya did not register as voters during the last IEBC voter registration exercise.
As the exercise was closing down, a large number of Identity cards was still lying at District registrar offices uncollected.
According to Central Provincial Commissioner Japhter Rugut, Kiambu County is the most affected with more than 13 000 uncollected documents, followed by Murang’a (9 500), Nyandarua (8 800), Nyeri (3 712) and Kirinyaga (4 000).
Most of them belong to the youths who applied for the documents some months ago and it is the same group that fills in political rallies to show their support to the politicians.
The same group is jam-packed with compliments and complaints that a certain politician is not performing well.
