4 things women should never do to their man

21 March 2016, 21:10 Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi - Women do some bad things to their men at times. Here are some they should avoid at all costs.

Challenging him in front of your kids

Family, sort of works like little mini-institutions. You should look at it like a company- colleagues, easily feed off of what their fellow colleagues do or say. If a partner, challenges another partner, it is juicy fodder for the subordinates. The partner that wins is the one that gains respect while the one that loses is looked down on.

It works the same way in family. Children look up to you and they feed off of what you and your spouse choose to show them. When children loose respect for one of their parents, they got it from somewhere and it is usually from another parent. When you challenge your husband in front of the kids, how can you then go back to him and ask him to correct them. They will not pay attention or really care because you have shown them his word is not worth any grain of salt.

Correcting or talking down to him in public

There is a time and place for everything and there definitely will never be a time where it is right for any spouse; husband or wife, to make the other look foolish by pointing out the other’s mistake.

No matter what they say or do that is wrong or makes you look bad, you chose them so you have to suffer through it until you get home-if it is that serious. Some women make the mistake of talking over their men because maybe they think he is not clever enough to make the right remarks or he is sounding dumb-yea, you chose them, suffer through it. But pointing it out in public will also make you look foolish because you chose to be with a ‘foolish’ person.

Just don’t correct someone in public especially in front of people you will keep seeing.

I don’t think you need an explanation for this one.  No matter how you choose to look at it or explain it, you are humiliating your partner especially if it is with someone they keep interacting with or seeing.

Scolding or reprimanding your husband in public

In public includes in front of your family and in front of your mother. You ruin someone’s self-esteem and it will reach a point they will no longer care even while doing the smallest tasks. Have a care with what you say and when you say it and whom is around while you say it.
