4 things men hate about women

22 January 2016, 19:35 Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi - There are things men are always unhappy about coming from women. Always!!

Their paycheck

Someone’s paycheck is theirs and you have no right to demand its contents. It is boundaries; it is their money from their hard work. You can snoop and they better not find out but you cannot keep pushing for it unless you suspect they are not good with money

You can also not force someone to take care of your family if they do not want to. That African tradition, ‘you marry me you marry us’, has ruined a lot of marriages and a lot of women’s happy homes. Making demands on your spouse’s money because your family wants it, forcing them to lie, then when they buy something for themselves you get mad; will ruin your marriage eventually.

You can cajole it out of him but not force it out of him. You create a bad atmosphere for your marriage.

Their bank account

You can never win with this one. Also a boundary and everyone is testy with it because no one likes explaining themselves like they are still children. As a married couple, all you need to know is someone is not going to force you down the drain eventually.  You can champion for a joint account with legitimate explanations but you cannot force someone to tell you about their money. They can just lie, open another one or have more than one and give you the one they are least worried about. You end up creating worms when you force someone to tell you about their money.

Their phone

When you are on a date or you are married and your spouse makes a production out of receiving a phone call or sending a text; then you should be worried. If they are always updating their password or pin, you should indeed be worried because they obviously have something to hide.

But if you go looking for something, then you will definitely find it. On the other hand, if you go looking and you do not find anything then they better not find out because it is a breach of trust and boundaries in a relationship. You will also shift suspicion to yourself because it will now be, ‘what are you hiding, that you think I am hiding!’

We don’t go through people’s phones.

Showing up at someone’s house uninvited

This is a tactic used by a lot of women; to spend a weekend with the man they fancy. Show up and cook him dinner to show your wife material skills. Show up to ensure he has no other women around. Just show up. You will in the end, end up looking desperate especially if he had his ‘boys’ around. Such a bad picture to portray on the first day you meet them and make it more awkward by sticking around and not making excuses then leaving because you obviously came at a bad time.

Don’t go to someone’s house uninvited or without the proper arrangements especially if you are not that serious in a relationship. Because you are going to do what you want and still go, if you find his sister, family (the ones you truly know not the one’s he might have lied about) or the boys; do make excuses and leave.

To finish if you suspect someone has a wife or another woman; or in a man’s case- married with a husband and children or playing you off against another man; then by all means ensure your security and go through everything. Find out and move on because they obviously are not serious!
