Nairobi - Why are break-ups so common in Kenya?
Marriage is hard
You cannot tell me anything else because
that is what I know; MARRIAGE IS FREAKING HARD! Period.
That is why a lot of young couples end up
divorcing very fast; a year or two after marriage because now they have
realised that that was not their soul mate.
Aside from love, marriage needs dedication.
Our generation does not know the meaning of that word. And commitment- it is
also not in their dictionary. That is why most of us are very fickle- jumping
from one point to the other or one relationship to the other; eventually it
will be one marriage to the next one.
of respect for each other’s ideas and ambitions
You tell someone something and they laugh
you off. Your partner does not take you seriously. Most relationship begin when
either partner has already boxed their spouse into a certain category. This is
where a lot of misunderstandings come from. When something eventually means
something to you and you don’t see eye to eye; it creates a hostile environment
because people these days stand up for themselves and they would rather leave
than stick around where they know they are not supported’
fell for the honey moon stage
Take your time in relationships. I don’t
think there is such a thing as love at first sight. Get to actually know
someone. Don’t rush into a wedding and then the surprises start popping up. You
date a few months, decide you want to marry, you do and then you get to know
them in marriage, then they are no longer your soul mate.
It works for a few; you might not be those
on chemistry alone
Don’t! Connection is great; sex is also not
bad but they are not the only things that form a relationship. You have to work
on the others as well; communication should be perfect-don’t shy away from
anything, say what you want to say, ask, interrogate and all that. Mental, and
emotional from both sides are also key.
