4 pointers to dating a rich man

11 March 2015, 16:37 Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi -  I am not a boxing enthusiast, but I sure do know the name Floyd Mayweather. His boxing and undefeated title aside, that man has money and can show you how to stunt. From his personal jet to the Lamborghini Aventador, he has money to blow and he is not afraid to show it.

Countless times I have heard us Kenyan ladies being shamed for our love of money and the comfortable life, as we love the men that we are with to provide. So, as I was counting the many expensive cars that Floyd has, I asked myself would I be willing to marry such a man because of the lifestyle that he can provide? My answer was no, and I think that a lot of Kenyan ladies would come up with the same answer. For a host of reasons.

First of all, it has to do with the fact that he is a boxer. I am not afraid for his safety more so than I am afraid for mine.

Since we are going to talk about our love for money, I feel I should mention a few things because we just do not fall into any pit if you show us your bank balance. If it is always about wealth, I can comfortably tell you that there are a lot of rich men in Kenya that you do not know about because they are not listed. There are a lot of rich men in Kenya that you never hear about because they are very private individuals. There are also a lot of wealthy men in Kenya who do not even list their businesses under their own names that is why you will never even hear of them.

If he has money and it is illegal, I will always be afraid of going to prison. We all know how our prisons look like. Thusly, I will not be too thirsty for money when I know that the end result is me being behind bars just by association. The other simple logic is that how will I get to spend it when I am behind bars. But we can also assume that since we are a very corrupt population, I can buy myself out of a prison sentence; but who wants that risk?

If he is violent, then his money will not buy me from six feet under. I am not saying that Floyd Mayweather is violent but if such a man were to raise a fist trust me, you would never get up. So, if a man is violent, then trust me, no amount of money will convince me to settle down with him- a lot of Kenyan women will agree to the same.  The simple logic in this case is, why settle for the one that can kill you when you can have one that will not? There are plenty of wealthy men to go around, no need to go for the one that gives me a bruise.

I want my children to have good genes. Being able to hit someone is good, but being able to read and get A's is even better. There was a time that someone made some comments about Floyd being able to read. It is none of my business if he can or cannot; that is his business. On the other hand, if I am making babies with someone who does not have good genes then that questions my intelligence. I would mention names about some people who look like they walked into a wall, yet they have very beautiful wives because of the money they have. As much as you can question Kenyan ladies’ intelligence, when it comes to the children that we will have we always think five steps ahead of you. For example, we have heard of how in the traditional times, Kikuyu women would have children with their husband but in order to make sure that the whole brood did not carry his evil and unintelligent seed, she would get others with people who were not actually married to her. If you did not know that get a history book, you need a lesson.

So when it comes to money, we like it, yes. I even admit that we work very hard to ensure stability that comes with being with a wealthy man but do we just fall for any graceless fool? No we do not!
