Police in Imenti North District of Meru County have recovered a body of a 34 year-old man who died under mysterious circumstances following a drinking spree at Gitimbine area within Meru town.
Confirming the incident area OCPD James Kithuka said the body of the deceased Johnson Nkundi was discovered this morning by residents who informed the police before it was moved to Meru Level Five Hospital Mortuary for postmortem analysis.
Kithuka said the real cause of the death is under investigations though the deceased was known to be a habitual drunkard.
The police boss cautioned residents against alcoholism urging them to embrace family values through guidance and counseling noting that the deceased was single.
According to one of the family members Francis Mathiu, the deceased spent the whole of yesterday drinking before he was discovered lying unconscious at around 7am today.
He said family members were informed of his condition this morning after he failed to report home the previous night.
He noted that his nephew was employed as a barber in one of the shops within Gitimbine shopping centre.
