Nairobi - 3 men have been sentenced to death for the killing of former Embakasi MP Melitus Were.
The three were charged Tuesday by High Court judge Linda Kimaru for murdering the MP in Woodley Estate Nairobi in the aftermath of the 2007 General Elections.
The judge ruled that there had been enough evidence to prove that James Omondi, Wycliffe Simiyu and Paul Otieno killed Mr Were on January 29, 2008.
" On analyzing the evidence and the accused person’s decision not to ask for mercy, I sentence them to death as prescribed in law," the Judge ruled.
Were was gunned down in unclear circumstances, with the motive of his death yet to be known to this day.
