Nairobi - 16 Ethiopians have been charged in court for being illegally in the country with three of their Kenyan handlers being charged for facilitating their stay.
The 16 were arrested in Nairobi's South C estate Wednesday and arraigned at a Nairobi court Friday to take plea.
They were however not able to take plea due to the lack of a translator, as they were unable to speak either in English or Swahili.
Magistrate Charles Ondieki at the Kibera Law Courts stated that the 16 and their three handlers remain in custody until when they can take plea.
The three Kenyans were named as Jacob Njau, Abdinoor Mohammed and Moses Nyaga.
Just last month, there were 101 aliens arrested in Nairobi without valid paperwork. It is understood that they were headed for South Africa.
