3 abductors ambushed in rescue mission

Police in Nyandarua North district on Monday night rescued a three-year-old girl from the hands of her three abductors after a week long ordeal at Gatumbiro village in Nyandarua West district.
Confirming the incident, Nyandarua North police chief Onsongo said that the suspects have been asking for KES 20 million from the girl’s parents.
According to Onsongo, the suspects are members of the same family.
Police identified the three as Gedion Mutunga, 21, his mother Veronica Njeri, 38, and a cousin Wambui Wairimu, 30, who were arrested in the midnight ambush.
“The girl was however unharmed. She had been told that she was at her grandmother's place,” said the OCPD,
The abductors had used a motorbike to ferry her from their posh Muthaiga Estate home in Nyahururu town,
Police managed to track them using the cellphone number they were using to demand the ransom, and they also found a kilogram of bhang in the house.
The girl’s father is a successful businessman in Nyahururu town.
