Kampala - Police in Uganda are holding three Kenyans and a Congolese man suspected to be terrorists.
According to police, the four men were arrested at a roadblock in Kasese district, 400 kms west of Kampala, while travelling in a new Toyota Land Cruiser with Kenyan registration number.
''We arrested them yesterday at around 12.30 pm at a police roadblock near the Kasese airfield," said Uganda police spokesman, Fred Enanga.
Enanga said that police in Uganda acting on an alert from Malaba border patrol police that people they suspected to be wrong elements had entered the country.
He has not revealed their names saying that might affect their investigations.
''We are pursuing clues linking them to terrorism although they claim that they are business men on their way to Beni in Democratic republic of Congo,'' said Enanga.
He however said that he wondered whether what they were saying was true because it is impossible to go to Beni by road because the road is impassible due to huge potholes and the way is also infested by rebels.
He said that the suspects have been transferred to Kampala where they will be interrogated to establish if they are rebels, terrorists or innocent businessmen.
Ever since Al Shabaab terrorists attacked Garissa University in Kenya and killed over 140 students, security agents in Uganda have been on high alert.
