Nairobi - 27 people will be charged with stealing KES 791 million from the National Youth Service NYS.
The 27 have been named by the Criminal Investigation Department CID as being behind the scam that saw the NYS defrauded KES 791,358,000.
The CID has forwarded the list of persons to the director of public prosecutions DPP for action.
" The names have been forwarded to the DPP and the persons will be charged with defrauding the NYS KES 791,358,000," the Director of Public Prosecution's DPP office said Monday.
The persons did not include Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru who has been under pressure over the embezzlement of funds in her docket, of which the NYS is under.
Waiguru has denied involvement in the loss of the funds.
Among those named include Form Homes LTD, Reinforced Technologies LTD and Roof and All Traders.
The other 24 are individuals.
Waiguru has refused to resign despite the loss of the funds, saying that her junior officers should instead answer for the mess.
