23 year old commits suicide after learning HIV status

A body of a 23 year old secondary school student was on Thursday morning found dangling with a rope round his neck at Ochuoga village -East Asembo location Rarieda district.
According to the area Assistant chief, Fredrick Odhiambo Omino, the deceased who was identified as Maurice Ouma Wagowi is a form four student at St. Mathews Kandaria secondary school.
Area OCPD, Patrick Mangoli confirmed the incident stating that Ouma is said to have gone for a HIV Aids test on Wednesday, and on Thursday morning, the deceased is said to have prepared to go to school as usual, but was heard screaming and vomiting by his family members who ignored him.
Later on, one of the deceased’s family members found him hanging from the roof top of his step brother’s house.
The police boss said it is suspected that the deceased committed suicide after learning of his HIV status. He advised the public to be open and seek counseling whenever they faced with difficult situations.
The body of the deceased who was an orphan has been moved to Matangwe mortuary waiting for post mortem.
