200,000 bail for arrested Nairobi Aviation students

Nairobi - Students protesting an expose carried by a local television station have been charged and released on a bail of KES 200,000.
The 12 students were charged Tuesday by resident magistrate Pamela Mugure, who handed a different student a bail of KES 300,000 for being found with a stone in his possession.
The students denied charges of unlawful assembly and malicious damage to city property, as they were among hundreds of students who protested outside Nairobi's Nation Centre over an expose by TV station NTV alleging that their school hands out fake certificates to persons who have not attended classes.
According to their charge sheet, the students blocked Kimathi street for hours carrying banners and smashed doors and windows using rocks, and hurled abuse against Nation Media Group's journalists.
They also injured five news reporters and a passerby during the protest.
