2 policemen arrested for aiding Pastor Ng'ang'a escape

Nairobi - Pastor James Ng'ang'a has been arrested and will be presented in court to answer to charges of lying to police officers and killing a woman through dangerous driving.
Ng'ang'a's Range Rover was involved in an accident with a Nissan March in which a woman, Mercy Njeri died, while her husband survived with many injuries.
He was allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road.
According to witness accounts, after the accident Ng'ang'a escaped and was helped by police to doctor statements on his whereabouts ad involvement in the accident.
For that matter, two police officers will be charged with trying to aid Ng'anga evade justice.
They are Kenya Police Airwing inspector Christopher Nzioka and police officer corporal Patrick Baya.
Nzioka will also be charged with falsifying information, and will face another charge of neglecting official duty, alongside Baya. Nzioka and Baya served as Ng’ang’a’s bodyguards without being officially assigned to him.
They had denied involvement in the scam, but a probe by a team led by Traffic Commandant Charlton Muriithi established they were with Ng’ang’a on the day of the crash.
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett has already said that the police officers charged will face a possible sanction of being thrown out of the police service.
