Nairobi - The Mombasa High Court on Friday sentenced to death two Mombasa Republican Council MRC members after being found guilty of killing four police officers in Mombasa.
Jabiri Ali Dzuya and Bwana Mkuu Alwan killed senior police superintendent of police Otieno Owour, chief inspector Salim Kimutai Chebil, police constables Stephen Maithya and Andrew Songira.
The four were killed on the eve of the 2013 General Election at Jomvu in Miritini within Mombasa county.
The two were in a group of youths who did not want the elections held in Mombasa.
When delivering the judgement, Justice Martin Muya said Dzuya was the chairman of the group and the machete discovered from him linked to the killings.
" The accused persons are found to have been guilty of carrying out an agenda which is against our Constitution was brutal and senseless. Thus for the offence of murder, which I found the accused persons deserve, each is sentenced to death," Muya delivered.
The two are said to have worn masks and ribbons during the time of the attack to hide their identities.
Dzuya was also found with a MRC card.
