Nairobi - A girl who was found in possession of bhang in her private parts has been sentenced to 18 months probation.
The girl, whose face was seen all over Kenya in lewd photos in the shocking incident last week has been told to report to a probation officer every month in the next 18 to serve the course of her sentence and rehabilitation.
The girl was among 45 high school students arrested for smoking bhang, drinking and having sex in a matatu. She had hidden bhang and a matchbox in her underpants.
The 33-seater matatu was intercepted on the highway by officers from the Sagana Traffic Police base.
The matatu's license has since been revoked over the matter.
" She has been given an 18 month sentence but we are seeking an appeal since the sentence is too harsh, " the girl's lawyer Gladys Wamaitha told News24 Tuesday.
The other students will not be charged for any offenses as they were not found in direct possession of the drugs, which it is understood they three away before police could reach them.
