Nairobi - 18 University students have been arrested for causing havoc in the city following a strike over the late arrival of Higher Education Loans Board HELB loans.
The students staged the protest Tuesday morning claiming that they had been let down by the HELB leadership in processing of the loans.
The 18 are being held at the Central Police Station.
" They took part in an illegal gathering as well as causing damage to various property, both public and private," Central Police OCPD Paul Wanjama told News24.
They were joined by students from other universities in the protest.
HELB has said that there has been a slight delay in processing the payments and urged students to remain calm.
