Nairobi - A group of 15 Ethiopian nationals have been arrested by Kenya Defence Force soldiers at Archers Post in Isiolo County.
They were accosted while hiding in a bush following a tip off by members of the public, said Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner Kipchumba Rutto.
“KDF officers tracked down the illegal immigrants who had fled into the bushes after the drivers of vehicles used for their transport abandoned them to avoid arrest by police said Rutto.
He said the aliens did not have legal documents to allow them to be in the country.
He, however, blamed officers manning roadblocks from Moyale to Archer’s Post for failing to arrest the illegal immigrants.
He reported that the aliens claimed they were on transit from Ethiopia to South Africa through Kenya to look for greener pastures.
He warned human traffickers with stern actions, saying it was illegal for citizens to allow passage of foreigners through the country.
