12 suspected thugs were apprehended by police in Molo on Friday night after their plot to raid a homestead failed.
The raid target said that the suspect were arrested by the police in the wee morning hours after breaking into his house and demanding for the dowry money he had received earlier.
He added that the thugs first broke into his store where they stole 15 bags of maize before attempting to torch the main house.
Efforts by the neighbors to help the family bore no fruits as the thugs who were armed with guns threatened to kill anyone who stepped into the compound.
It took the intervention of Molo OCS Johnston Liambila together with 30 contingents of police officers who managed to arrest 12 thugs among them the area Councillor's son.
However, the angry residents blamed the police officers of Nyakiambi police station of laxity at their working saying the thugs would have been arrested long before they could steal the maize bags.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned before the court of Molo on Monday.
