Nairobi - 113 victims of the Garissa University College attack have been identified.
So far, the families of the 113 have positively identified the bodies of their loved ones but will not be able to take the bodies until the 148 that have been received at the Chiromo mortuary are cleared.
This is to avoid confusion which may lead to conflict during burial ceremonies according to Chiromo mortuary officials.
Of the 35 bodies that are yet to be identified, 23 are badly mutilated, and will be hard to identify.
" There are some badly mutilated bodies and the task is difficult is to ensure that we get the families to try as much as they can to identify the bodies using other ways such as birth marks and articles of clothing," Jimmy Ngugi a Chiromo mortuary attendant told News24.
It is hoped that families will start being allowed to pick up the bodies from the end of the week.
