1001 Reasons that makes Kenya both a Curse and a Blessing

10 December 2015, 15:01

Nairobi - "Kenyans are the most arrogant thieves in the world because they steal with high degree impunity".

These are not my words. In fact, they do not belong to some 'holy' son or daughter of God you are trying to imagine. They are words of non other than the 91 year-old Robert Gabriel Mugabe.

Yes, the oldest sitting head of state on earth, the only knighted African (though his knighthood was withdrawn in 2008), the only president who fancies being overtly compared with Adolf Hitler, the only people's leader whose annual birthday party costs  £650,000, a devoted Catholic raised in a Jesuit School, and of course the most educated African alive.

You might not be aware of this but in some European countries, people believe that even grandmothers are corrupt here in Kenya!

The point is there is so much evil to talk about concerning Kenya and Kenyans for that matter, yet at the same time, there is so much good to brag about, walk shoulders high, and announce proudly to the world about this very same country and its very same people.

We are the first African nation to have fathered an American Head of State, Barack Hussein Obama (and if all goes well, the only one to have done so twice for Dr. Ben Carson, Republican Presidential Hopeful is a Turkana and will be visiting his ancestral land soonest).

Every great name seemingly wants to visit Kenya despite all its horrors and nightmares: from Catholic Papal Heads (the latest being Pope Francis), prolific writers such as the late Dr. Myles Munroe, the Late Chinua Achebe, our very own exiled Professors Micere Mugo and Ngugi wa Thiong'o among others, celebrities such as Akon, Da Vile, and the list goes on and on and on.

There is something so profoundly unique about this great nation...something so alive and lively the world over keeps noticing yet as a people, we still remain unperturbed. If you were to as me, I do not believe in the existence of a country called Kenya and a people called Kenyans.

What we have instead are two main things: on one hand, we have an army of well organized sons and daughters of evil whose full time preoccupation is that of stealing, stealing again and stealing yet again. On the other hand, we have the hapless, vulnerable, hoodwinked, sometimes even brainwashed masses whose job is to idly sit by and watch as the drama titled 'IF YOU MUST STEAL, STEAL ALL YOU CAN' unfolds.
