Nairobi - The Orange Democratic Movement ODM has cracked the whip on the party members that instituted the beating of Executive Director Magerer Lang'at.
The party, in a special Executive Council meeting fined the attackers the equivalent of KES 10,000 each for causing the melee and fracas that saw the former assistant minister beaten last week.
The meeting saw that the 10 Members of County Assemblies MCA's from Nairobi were all guilty of causing chaos and disrespecting party leaders.
Secretary General Prof. Anyang Nyongo said that the attackers all failed to adhere to party principals and thus needed to be punished.
" It is unacceptable at any level to have such behaviour and we have come to the conclusion that they apologize and accept this fine, he said Tuesday.
The NEC meeting was chaired by party leader Raila Odinga with Nyong'o, nominated senator Agnes Zani, Mathare MP Stephen Kariuki also in attendance.
Nyong'o said that the NEC has decided to censure the MCAs despite their apology to the party over the incident.
" We do not condone violent behaviour in this party, he added.
Lang'at was attacked for apparently being a Jubilee coalition mole and going against party ideals by claiming that party leader Raila Odinga is unfit to lead the party.
