Toyota SA has "fine-tuned" its Yaris range to focus on its most popular variants – the four-doors with the 51kW one-litre or 73kW 1.3 petrol engines.
The 1.5 petrol-hybrid models will continue to be badged XS HSD and XR HSD.
According to Toyota Marketing's Glenn Crompton: “Superminis account for about a quarter of all new cars sold in SA with more than 20 models from Europe, Japan and Korea vying for a share of the market.
“The 2013 Yaris is tasked with flying the Toyota flag in this ultra-competitive B segment and with the pared-down line-up and new pricing structures for this model now perfectly meets buyers' ever more-demanding requirements for smaller cars that are affordable to run, easy to live with, yet are stylish, safe, comfortable and fun to drive.”
The Yaris trio now have the previous Xs specification but at a lower cost.
Crompton said, “Being able to put a more affordable sticker price on a leading supermini such as the Yaris is every marketer’s dream. For those seeking sheer value for money, the Yaris is now an irresistible package.”
The 1.0 petrol has 15” alloys, colour-coded body, aircon, key fob central locking, power front windows and external mirrors and steering-wheel audio controls. The 1.3 CVT 'auto' adds a leather-clad steering wheel and gear-shifter.
