Second Jaguar recall in one week

16 August 2013, 17:31

Detroit, Michigan - Jaguar is recalling 2929 cars in the US for possible vehicle stalling and pinching power windows after a recall was issued earlier this week (Aug 14, 2013) in China for possible engine and oil leak problems.

Its the second recall of Jaguar products reported by Wheels24 this week. The first recall involved possible engine and oil leak problems in China. The recall includes are 3196 Jaguar XF and XJ units, as well as 8656 Land Rover Freelander 2 and Range Rover Aurora units.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, owned by India's Tata Motors, is recalling 940 XF two-litre GTDi 2013-model year units for possible stalling issues because a hose clamp for the charge air cooler could detach, according to documents posted on the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website.

Such stalling could affect the driver steering and brake assistance.

Jaguar says dealers will inspect the hose to make sure it is in the correct position, and tight.

Jaguar is also is recalling 1989 model year 2011-2014 XK convertibles because the power windows may inadvertently be activated and pinch or injure a passenger/child's arm or finger, according to the NHTSA.

The switch in the roof console also activates the power windows when the convertible roof is opening or closing. The switch does not move downward to close the windows, failing to conform to federal safety standards. Jaguar dealers will replace the overhead roof console at no cost, according to NHTSA.

A Jaguar spokesman said there was one slow-speed accident related to the hose recall and none related to the window recall. No injuries were reported.

Both recalls are expected to begin by the end of September 2013.
