Chev reveals hot new trucks

19 August 2013, 18:22

Acme, Michigan – General Motors has unveiled the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon at the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars.

General Motors' executive VP and CFO Dan Ammann provided the first look of the vehicles and said the models are designed to be capable, versatile and fuel-efficient alternatives to full-size bakkies.

Wheels24 first reported on the Colorado as Chev's rally concept vehicle in 2011 after it was unveiled at the 2011 Buenos Aires international auto show. The model is almost ready for production and looks almost identical to the 2.8-litre turbodiesel concept model which was a double-cab sitting on a 4x4 chassis, with 18" wheels wrapped in mud terrain tyres.

The Colorado and Canyon will join the all-new 2014 Silverado and Sierra 1500s line-up in the US. The upcoming Silverado and Sierra HDs will also be added soon to help customers choose the right model for their needs.

Production is scheduled to start in 2014 at GM’s assembly plant in Wentzville, Missouri.
