Abuja - What does music and maths have in common? No, it’s not the counting part at the start of a song.
Researchers from the University College London (UCL) employed functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to examine what happened to the brains of 15 mathematicians when they looked at mathematical formulas they rated as beautiful.
And yes, these people do consider maths beautiful in the same way the rest of us think a shapely lover is beautiful, The Indian Express has tried to convince us.
They found that the mathematicians’ brains reacted the same way as it did when it was presented with a beautiful piece of art of music.
This suggests to the researchers that there might be a neurobiological basis to what we find beautiful.
