Your vaginal muscles (aka PC muscles) support your pelvic floor and they are the ones that spasm during orgasm. To locate your PC muscle practice stopping the flow of your urine: the muscles you use to do this are your PC muscles.

Just like the rest of you body the tighter and more toned your vagina is the better it functions, and it's beneficial for both you and your partner. Increased blood flow increases arousal and in turn leads to more intense orgasms.

Pelvic floor exercises, specifically aimed at strengthening the muscles around your pelvic platform are also known as Kegel exercises, after the doctor who developed them. There are many different variations of Kegel exercises but I like those that co-ordinate your breathing with the exercise.

Try to inhale and contract your PC muscles at the same time. Hold your breath and the muscle contraction for a few seconds, relax and exhale. Repeat, gradually building up your repetitions just like you would do with any other exercise. Try starting off with 25 repetitions twice a daily and build up to 50.

Because many of us just can't remember to do our exercises daily without a bit of incentive, I recommend using a pelvic toning aid like vaginal training balls, also known as ben-wa or geisha balls.

These look like tiny bar-bells, which you insert into your vagina. They work in a similar way to adding weights to your gym session: the increased resistance makes each repetition more effective and having something to grip helps you to do the exercises correctly, plus they are fun to use!

I suggest only using good quality products made from materials like silicone or elastomed which are non-porous and easy to clean.
