London – A new treatment, Obalon, created by biology experts helps with the weight loss process by inserting a balloon into one’s stomach which inflates to give the sensation of fullness, Mirror reports.
Patients swallow a pill which has a balloon inside, the micro-catheter is attached to the pill and once the pill reaches the stomach it inflates to the size of an apple. The pill dissolves and the catheter is removed. The procedure takes about ten minutes.
Trials that have taken place in the UK and US have depicted that patients can lose an average of 7.7kg in 12 weeks. Obalon is currently only available at a select few hospitals and clinics in London and costs from £2995.
