Blind mom sees her baby for the first time

28 January 2015, 11:44

Nairobi - Kathy Beitz was declared legally blind when she was a child and the one wish she had was to see her son on the day he was born.

Her sister Yvonne Felix, who is also legally blind wanted to make sure that her sister did not have the same experience as her and that she would actually be able to see her baby when he was born.

A company called eSight Corporation stepped in to make this dream a reality.

They produce special glasses that give legally blind people the ability to see by "combining a camera, display technology, and advanced computing to deliver a real-time video that enables sight for people with vision loss".

The glasses cost $15 000 a pair so Beitz was loaned one for the day and here's the touching result.
