10 ways to keep the kids busy

It's the holiday and that means loads of extra time with the kids that you may not be sure how to keep from the getting bored. The obvious choice is to take a look at our events page and get them outside, but if you're short on cash (as so many of us are) then we have some ideas for you.
We've been trawling Pinterest and we love the fun arts and crafts that are constantly popping up. We chose 10 of our favourites that are also cheap and easy! What could be better?
1) Button Jewellery
All you need is some buttons, felt and string and your little girls will have adorable jewelry that they can have fun making. It's also a great way for them to be creative with colours and shapes.
2) Yarn Eggs
These fun and colourful balls are super simple to make! Fairy party? These would make the perfect party decorations for your an outdoor party.
3) Fun Kids Soap
These colourful and pretty soaps can be used as presents for your kid's teacher or as a fun DIY project for your daughter's sleepover party. Replace the jewels with small dinosaurs and the boys can join in too!
4) Finger Paint Sponges
These are cute and crafty - all you need to do is cut up a sponge and dip them in paint. Now your kid can use them while they finger paint. Easy peasy!
5) Milk Carton Bird Feeder
A super cute bird feeder than can be decorated as your children see fit. Once you've filled it with bird seed you can take it outside and watch the birds enjoy their feast.
6) Glow-in-the-Dark Slime
This fun, slimey goo that glows in the dark will keep the kids occupied for hours. And there's only 6 ingredients in the recipe! The kids will love to help make this fun toy.
7) Jet Pack
Which kid wouldn't love to zoom around the universe with their very own jet pack? If you're not quite ready to let them get the real thing, why not make one out of old soda bottles?
8) Plastic Bottle Bowling
Summer in South Africa means that there are a lot of empty bottles laying around that would be perfect for this craft. Coat the inside of the bottles with paint, group them together and let the kids have fun knocking them over.
9) Shampoo Bottle Spaceships
These cute spaceships are made from old shampoo bottles, bottle caps and some cardboard. Let the kids have fun painting and decorating them!
10) Painted Rocks
Who knew that rocks could be so much fun? You can paint them as animals, cars, houses or even your own family. They can provide hours of fun and when the kids are done, you can put them in the yard amongst the flowers.
