Prince Harry's royal bloopers

30 August 2012, 13:18 David Engelbrecht

England - Prince Harry has a reputation for being the royal bad boy, but the recent scandal surrounding leaked naked pictures has not been his first. Take a look at his various scandals through the years.

Those pics may have gotten him into trouble with grandma and dad again,  but it's certainly not the worst of his scandals.

We put together a timeline to track Harry's scandals through the years. Take a look.

2001- In the summer of 2001, Harry was caught smoking marijuana at the family's estate in Highgrove.

The then 16-year-old prince was busted and the news was leaked to various tabloids that Harry was partying away in pubs with friends and was caught smoking marijuana.

St James Palace later confirmed that it was indeed true that Harry had been caught smoking marijuana and said that he "experimented with the drug on several occasions, but that his use couldn't be described as regular."

Harry was sent to rehab soon after.

2003 - Two years after his first major scandal, Harry ended up in hot water again.  A former teacher of Harry's at Eton College claimed school authorities had forced her to help the young royal cheat.

Sarah Forsyth claimed she did nearly all the work on an art project that Harry submitted to pass an exam in 2002 that gained him entry into the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and she had the tape recordings to prove it.

Her attorney went on later to say that Harry even boasted on how he had slacked during the project. A spokesperson for the palace claimed that Prince Charles was furious with the allegations, saying that the recordings were inaudible and believed in Harry's innocence.

2005 - The Halloween costume everybody will remember: Harry in his Nazi uniform.

After being photographed in the costume with a swastika on his arm, the tabloids cashed in. The Sun had it on their front page, with the headline "Harry the Nazi".

Soon after, a communication team for Prince Charles released a statement on Harry's behalf. The statement read: "I am very sorry if I have caused any offence or embarrassment to anyone. It was a poor choice of costume and I apologise."

It was another instance of the prince making a poor judgment call, and the statement did nothing to quell fierce criticism.

Many public figures and politicians were not pleased with this, and said that Harry was old enough to face the public himself and apologise.

2005 - In the same year, Harry lost his temper and made quite a scene after starting a fight with a photographer outside a nightclub in London.

Although Harry's spokesperson claimed the prince was defending himself, the photographer had a completely different story.

"Prince Harry burst out of the car and lunged towards me as I was still taking pictures. The base of the camera struck me and cut my bottom lip," the photographer recalled in an interview.

2007 - Harry's temper had not cooled down and two years after his previous brawl, he was involved in another public blow-out.

But, rather than just walk away, he chased down the photographer but fell to the ground before going back to his car.

The photographer seemed less concerned, recalling the incident: "He obviously doesn't like the paparazzi. If he wasn't drunk, he'd have kept his balance, but because he'd been drinking he lost his balance, he'd gone down."

2008 - Who could ever forget the infamous "vodka snorting".

When footage surfaced of Harry snorting vodka, his spokesperson refused to comment on the scenario, saying only that it was "a private matter."

2009 - It seems that ghosts from Harry's past have a habit of haunting him. After a three-year-old video surfaced in which Harry makes a racial slur, he was once again under fire.

In this video, Harry refers to a Pakstani cadet as "our Paki friend". In the same video he later refers to an officer-in-training as a "rag head".

A statement was issued in which Harry was quick to say that he "used the term as a nickname about a highly popular member of his platoon."

The following month he made a racial comment towards a black comedian. Stephen K Amos was appearing at his father's birthday party, and Harry reportedly said: "He doesn't sound like black chap."

2010 - Animal rights activists have also had their fair share of slaying the prince.

The group was outraged when Harry played a game of polo on a horse that allegedly had a stab wound from his spur.

Harry apparently just laughed off the matter, creating more tension and was described as "heartless" by the activists.

2012 - On his dirty weekend to Sin City, Harry was his usual Playboy self, but when TMZ released photos of the naked prince hugging a girl while playing strip billiards, it caused another storm in the royal court.

Upon returning to the palace, Harry received quite a stern talking-to from both his grandma, Queen Elizabeth and his father, Prince Charles.
