Nollywood star wants peaceful co-existence

08 July 2013, 14:58

Lagos - A Nigerian Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, on Saturday called for peaceful co-existence in the entertainment industry for the development of the sector.

Ike told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that there must be a prevailing peaceful atmosphere for the industry to develop.

"For development to take place in the industry, Nigerian actors need to work together to promote the sector.

"Most of the Nollywood actors do their film production without involving professionals in the industry. Such attitude affects the qualities of film produced,'' Ike said.

He urged the Federal Government to work with the guild to identify the right people in the industry.

"The government needs to work with the Nigerian Guild of Actors to sanction the illegal practitioners in the industry," he said.

He urged actors, irrespective of their tribes and ethnicity, to work together to promote the entertainment industry.

Ike also urged the Federal Government to follow up the fund recently disbursed to film makers to ensure its proper usag.
