Nairobi - Afro-fusion singer, Nina Ogot, says she is “honoured” to be the curtain raiser to Keith Sweat, the popular Unites States Rhythm and Blues crooner who will perform in the country in a fortnight.
Sweat, most famous for Twisted, one of the genre’s most popular songs, will perform at the Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi on October 5.
An elated Ogot could not hide her excitement at warming the stage for a musician he grew up listening to.
“It is definitely an honor for me,” said the musician-cum-actress.
“Keith Sweat is an an RnB icon. We all listened to and admired him in our late teens. To meet him and to be the only Kenyan act for his show is fabulous!"
Sweat is a legendary American singer, songwriter, and a record producer who released his debut album Make It Last Forever that set his music career path to fame and success.
The album provided a platform on which he enjoyed immense success selling more than 3 million copies.
He recently performed to crowds in Uganda.
Meanwhile, Ogot, who is also famous for her role in a local television series, Shuga, said she was also looking forward to her video launch, which is slated for October 17.
