Lupita Nyong'o: I'm not scared of failing

06 November 2015, 18:52

Los Angeles - Lupita Nyong'o doesn't worry about failure anymore.

The 12 Years A Slave star believes it is "healthy" to worry a little bit but insists she won't allow herself to be "paralysed" by fear anymore.

She told CNN: "I think a healthy fear of failure is good, and it definitely keeps me on my toes, knowing that things could go morbidly wrong.

"But I don't allow myself to get paralysed by that because through failure, you learn more."

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old beauty recently admitted she thought her life would return to normal after she won an Oscar for her part in the 2013 period drama.

She explained: "You know, I thought it would come to an end after the Oscars. I thought the Oscars would come and go and then all of a sudden everything would be back to normal and I'd be back in my apartment.

"You know what kept me sane? Not knowing. Having never really experienced that before... because this was new territory I had no normal. I had no sense of what was normal in that world. It was all new. I don't think [I would do it again]. Not to that extent."

And Lupita has no qualms about her chosen career, adding: "I enjoy learning new things. I enjoy being uncomfortable for some reason. It's more interesting, more challenging ... That's why I'm an actor. Because there's nothing comfortable about being an actor. You're always out on a ledge, you know?"
