Justin Bieber attacked on stage

07 May 2013, 08:24

Dubai - Justin Bieber was reportedly tackled to the ground by a fan during his concert in Dubai on Sunday night.

The National, the government-owned newspaper of Abu Dhabi, reports that a member of the audience rushed the stage during Justin’s performance at the Sevens Stadium and grabbed the 19-year-old singer before a security team was able to take the young male attacker.

The fan has been described in reports as "a youth in a white shirt and jeans". No one was hurt during the incident.

Video footage of the incident has already surfaced online. Watch it here.

Piano overturned

Justin was able to dodge the fan's grip and run safely to the side of the stage, and continued to sing without missing a beat - but the piano Bieber had been standing next to when he was tackled was overturned in the commotion as the fan tried to evade security, according to the National.

Despite the incident, Justin was able to finish his set after the incident. The attack allegedly happened as Justin was performing the final song in his set, Believe.

During his tour of the Middle East, Justin has been honouring the Adhan – the Muslim call to prayer – twice pausing his show in Istanbul on 2 May and in Dubai on Sunday night. He has also reportedly omitted songs from his set with lyrics that could cause offence to his Muslim fans.

Justin's extensive Believe world tour continues with two shows in South Africa this week – Cape Town on 8 May and Johannesburg on 12 May – before taking a 5-week break and then setting out on his homecoming North American tour dates starting in late June.

Big Concerts have released answers to a list of FAQs as well as rules and guidelines for Justin's Cape Town Stadium show on Wednesday.
