Jimwat's family appeals for medical help

Nairobi - The family of popular musician, Jimwat, is appealing for funds to enable him undergo surgery following a horrendous car crash.
The hip hop entertainer’s parents said the family was struggling to raise the funds required to settle the “Under 18” hitmaker’s hospital bills and reconstructive surgery.
Jimwat, who is also popular for other songs such as “Sitoi Kitu Kidogo” (Swahili for, “I will not pay a bribe), was involved in a horrific road accident along the Thika superhighway earlier this month. He suffered multiple fractures on his legs and ribs.
“Following the grisly road accident that Jimwat was involved in, we appeal to all his fans to contribute for his surgery so that he may be able to walk again and bring us the entertainment he brought before,” urged a joint statement from the parents,” his parents appealed in a statement.
The 28-year-old Jimwat, born James Wathigo had been out of the music scene for some time due to alleged alcohol and drug abuse that saw his parents at one time send him to the United States for rehabilitation.
His was one of a latest in a series of celebrities struggling to cope with fame.
It has been reported that parents are discouraging their children to follow a career in showbiz amid celebrities going off the rails.
